1 Dress 4 Looks

So, for my first post I thought I would start with a simple coordinate challenge, inspired by Cupcake Kamisama, (https://cupcakes-and-unicorns.blogspot.com/). If you haven't seen Cupcake Kamisama's blog yet I would highly recommend it as its extremely inspirational! Doing this challenge in particular will allow me to get a feel for how to format the blog, and a chance to have some fun! Although the temptation to do the around your wardrobe in 30 coordinates challenge is taking hold and I'm sure I will get to it sooner rather than later! The main piece I chose for this challenge is Chocoberry by Bodyline in the Beige colourway, I will use this piece to create 4 different looks, challenging myself to style it in ways I normally wouldn't.

I decided to start this challenge with a coordinate I would usually put together, so I reached for my usual strawberry items and put them with the skirt. Its a simple case of matching the theme and balancing with splashes of red... which happens to be my favorite colour! This is a simple basic coordinate for a relaxed summer meet. The blouse and tights are cool and perfect for summer.

Here I tried a more mature sweet theme, focusing on darker tones and incorporating more elegant elements such as heels and gold. The headbow is satin and matches the darker red of the tights and the high neckline puts this coordinate into a category somewhere between sweet and classic.

In this coordinate I found a blouse in my wardrobe that was a near perfect match to the skirt and... well... it would be rude not to try it right? Here I definitely went back to my sugary comfort zone which is food themed sweet lolita. The pops of red work well as the contrast with the Beige of the skirt and blouse. I wish I had red and beige tights as the white looks very out of place in this coordinate, I also feel that the beige lace of the headdress makes the red much less noticeable and the colours don't balance properly, therefore I would definitively try adding more red accessories if I wore this coordinate out... but despite all this, I quite like it!

This coordinate was intended to be worn on a breezy summer day to the beach or marina. I don't normally wear sailor themes but I do own a couple of chocolate themed sailor collar blouses, and the ivory in this one matched the polka dots in the bodyline skirt perfectly. I really like the dark brown shoes and brown embroidery in the collar as this pull out the browns in the skirt nicely, the bag however is definitely not the right shade of brown and I would probably reconsider it if I owned a bag that was in that darker shade of brown.

I enjoyed this challenge, it got me to think outside of my usual style and experiment a bit more. I will definitely do more of these 1 dress 4 looks challenges and we can find out if I can be more experimental with other pieces I own, perhaps next time I will avoid a border print and play with a more versatile piece!
